Discover Prussian heritage in Kaliningrad guided tour!
Whether you are interested in its East Prussian heritage and history, or curious how Kaliningrad looks today, this guided motorcycle tour has plenty to offer. The tour normally starts in Vilnius, Lithuania however, Klaipeda can be an alternative start location if that suits you better (e.g. if you are coming by ferry to Klaipeda port and don’t plan to visit Vilnius).Vilnius is easily accessible both thanks to Lithuania’s membership in EU and Schengen area, and if you are flying in, you will have excellent selection of flights from destinations in Europe.
From Vilnius we will head towards the Baltic sea and cross the border into Kaliningrad via the most picturesque route possible – the narrow strip of land that separates the Baltic sea from the Curonian Spit (UNESCO Heritage site). As Kaliningrad Oblast is relatively small and all areas of interest are within a day’s travel distance, we will be staying in the same elegant country house in the Kaliningrad city (formerly Königsberg). This allows us to travel light during the day and only take with you what you need for the day out.
Each day we will head in a different direction, visiting different cities, landmarks, and museums. Among other things we will tour Fort V (Fort Koenig Friedrich Wilhelm III), Insterburg castle ruins and Georgenburg castle. Then we’ll head towards the Baltic sea where we will ride along the coast and visit a number of famous sites and activities such as tour of a decommissioned submarine, the amber city of Yantarny, museum ship Vityaz, and monument to empress Elizaveta Petrovna just to mention a few. Before returning to Lithuania we will stop by at a few memorials and monuments from Soviet times near Bolshakovo, and a Soviet military exhibition in Sovetsk. We will also visit a memorial to fallen motorcyclists.
